Ocotal Beach Resort & Marina is a small luxurious hideaway where visitors relax and enjoy the marvels of the Pacific Ocean in year round summer weather.

Ocotal beach is a calm sandy beach about 1/3 mile in length and ideal for swimming and beach activities. Although many visitors come to Ocotal for its world class sportfishing, exciting scuba diving and surfing, other activities like tennis and water sports are available for guests.

Ocotal is the perfect place to just relax and enjoy the quiet easy going pace of this isolated area. Conveniently located and easily accessible by paved highways, Ocotal is only 2 miles from the fishing village and vacation center of Playas del Coco.

Accommodations consist of 50 standard rooms, 12 bungalows, and 9 suites. All rooms have air conditioning, king or two queen beds, ceiling fan, security box, hot watercolor satellite TV and telephone. Each one has its own terrace over looking the blue Pacific where you can enjoy room service from Ocotal's gourmet restaurant menu.

Because fishermen deserve not only excellent fishing but also excellent accommodations and service, Ocotal Beach Resort was conceived in 1978 to provide an alternative to the traditional rustic sportfishing facilities available in the tropical paradise of Costa Rica. Ocotal has taken care to devote equal concern to its boats, fishing and crews as it does to how fishermen spend their non-fishing hours.

The fishing day starts at 6:15 a.m. with breakfast on the picturesque terrace overlooking the Gulf of Papagayo. Boats are ready to depart at 7:00 a.m. The eight-hour day generally includes a one -hour run time and 6 hours of fishing.

These boats all have a flying bridge, shaded top, fightingchair head, outriggers, downriggers and carry an array of 20 to 80 pound Penn. International trolling rods and reels and spin tackle.

With Costa Rica´s most experienced pacific coast skippers, all crews are both professional and accomodating, loaded with a life time of local fishing knowledge, but eager and willing to try new different techniques. All captains have knowledge of English specially with regards to their trade.

The Gulf of Papagayo´s marlin fishing is recognized as some of the finest in the world. Black marlin are caught all months of the year with the best chances from May through August. For blue marlin, once again our waters are considered some of the finest in the world. Seen year round most catches are made during December, January, February, March and April. The rare striped marlin is also ocasionally caught in these waters.
